Nursey Foundation Impact Fund (NFIF) Grant Application

The Nursey Foundation Impact Fund (NFIF) provides funding to grassroots nonprofits in the Greater Tampa Bay Area that addresses critical community needs in Mental Health, Hunger, Homelessness, Foster Care Transitions, and Childhood Illnesses. Through NFIF, we support organizations that demonstrate measurable impact, financial responsibility, and sustainable solutions to local challenges.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for NFIF funding, applicants must:

  • Be a 501(c)(3) public charity in good standing with the IRS
  • Have been operational for at least three years with a proven track record of community impact
  • Be physically located in the Greater Tampa Bay Area and serve the local community
  • Align with at least one of NFIF’s five funding pillars (your organization may operate outside these pillars, as long as the specific program or initiative seeking funding aligns with one of them)
  • Submit a complete application with all required documentation
  • Ensure your program or project does not require recipients to pay for services
  • Submit only one application per year, regardless of the outcome

Funding Restrictions

NFIF grants must be used exclusively for the approved project. Organizations may apply for grants up to 20k. Funds cannot be used for:

  • General operating expenses
  • Capital improvements, renovations, or property acquisitions
  • Religious programs, worship services, or faith-based activities
  • Political campaigns, lobbying efforts, or advocacy initiatives
  • Research-focused organizations or projects
  • Debt repayment, loans, or endowment funding
  • Any expenses not specified in the approved project budget

Application Deadline

All applications must be submitted by the specified deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered. NFIF accepts applications on a quarterly basis, with each organization limited to one application per year. Please ensure you have all required materials ready before applying, as incomplete applications will require you to wait a full year before reapplying.

Grant Review Process

The NFIF grant application follows a two-phase review process to ensure a fair and thorough evaluation. Our priority is to be as fair, transparent and compliant as possible. Organizations may apply for grants up to 20k.

Phase 1: Programmatic Review

Applicants submit details about their organization, project, and budget. Applications are assessed based on mission alignment, impact potential, feasibility, innovation, and governance. Organizations that meet the evaluation criteria in Phase 1 will be invited to Phase 2 for financial review. An invitation to Phase 2 does not guarantee funding.

Phase 2: Financial Review (By Invitation Only)

Selected applicants will be required to submit financial documents within three weeks of request. Failure to meet this deadline will result in automatic disqualification.

Required Documents:

IRS Form 990 (Last 2 Years) – Required

Balance Sheet (Last 2 Years) – Strongly Recommended

Statement of Revenues & Expenses (Last 2 Years) – Strongly Recommended

Meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee funding. Applications will be evaluated through a competitive first come, first serve review process.
